Summer harvest!

Well Hello Folks!

After all of the weeding, prickling, and bug biting my garden has finally taken off! As you can see the tomatoes are to die for! My grandmother taught me how to can them last weekend the old-fashioned italian style. If you are on my Christmas list...you are probably getting salsa this year.

The bantams have finally started laying and their eggs are increasing in size. I am hoping that these Rhode Island Reds get the show on the road sometime soon! This weekend G-ma Santora is teaching me the tricks of the jelly and peach canning trade.

Spring Time

Here is a picture of when we put our first batch of chickens outside this spring. These are Black Cochin Bantam chickens that are a small breed. They were the Queen of England's favorite chicken breed because they are the most social. Now we also have: Rhode Island Reds, Golden Reds, and Silkies too! We have learned alot about raising chickens and we learned alot of the information from the book: Keeping Chickens By: Ashley English. It was a great informative read that made chicken raising more than a hobby.
